I consider myself patriotic, I do. I love my country and I’m fond of celebrating American Independence Day with friends and fanfare. But just curious, because I wonder if anyone is experiencing the same thing I am. Why do we now celebrate July 4th on July 3rd as well. I mean, isn’t it also called July 4th, which you know, happens on July 4th?
My neighborhood and many surrounding areas are offering fireworks on July 3rd and tomorrow. Or, just tonight, but not on July 4th. Or, just on, you know, July 4th itself. Is this so we can squeeze in two celebrations, or is this because July 4th falls midweek and we should have fireworks late tonight on Tuesday, so we can get to bed early on Wednesday night to arrive well-rested to work on Thursday morning?
So, perhaps tonight’s celebration is for those who can’t make it on the 4th. A kind of pre-make-up for the party they will miss on Wednesday night? This way no one is left out. I have a feeling some will watch fireworks on July 3rd and not on July 4th. It’s not like we celebrate New Year’s Eve the day before on December 30th. No matter, it’s all in the good spirit of the holiday!
I know with all the tinderbox conditions, I should just be happy to see fireworks any day, or either day, or both days, whatever the case may be. I hope you enjoy your holiday, fireworks or not. Happy 4th of July!
