Deal Clincher

“You’re putting me on,” Annie cried, with a stronghold on Harry’s neck, her fingernails dirty from digging in the backyard. “Where’s the money then?” She straddled him, smothering him with spit.

“I spent it,” Harry shoved Annie off, wiping his face with his sleeve.

“You did not.”

I wiped frosting from my face, devouring another bite, oozing chocolate, rich and creamy.

“Make a run for it,” Harry whispered to me, scrambling towards the bathroom, slamming the door.

With the money lining my pocket, I could eat all the cake I wanted. That’s what he said. I helped myself to one more slice.

Enjoy a piece of HaPpY hApPy Birthday cake! (Thanks, Dawn! It’s chocolate, chocolate chip with chocolate frosting.

    1. Perry, the seagulls must have stolen the cake! That would have been a good cake story, too! Oh, perfect. Why didn’t I think of that one? So obvious…But at least they made you sing. That’s totally worth it to me. Thank you, dear.

  1. Soak the cake with Kahlua and Bailey’s. Port,,,,, hmmmm, sure but I think a deep cab or spicy zin would be my pick. And strawberries, MUST have strawberries, luscious juicy strawberries soaked in sugar over night.. Okay, I might die happy now.

  2. Wow, happy birthday! I like the child-like priorities in the story: ‘all this money means I can eat more cake…so, I’ll have some more right now.’ 🙂 I was thinking, “just run! Get out of there!”

  3. Happy birthday! I’ve skimmed through all the comments – my head feels like a cake. I hope Harry gets his revenge … if I’ve read your story right, that is as a good take on ‘not having your cake and eating it’. She thinks she can, but we know she can’t and she’ll get her come uppance in a future chapter. Ann
