Welcome to my new blog, Amy Reese Writes! Surprise, surprise! Please join me in celebrating my new beginning.
I am back from the abyss. Are you still with me? I had not intended to be gone so long. I had these four issues surface: 1) I got sick, 2) My computer got sick (still is), 3) I went out-of-town …and then, and then…4) I had a mid-life crisis.
I know!
I was struggling with my identity and paralyzed by fear, thinking that once I hit the publish button, you would all disappear. I had to remind myself that this is just a blog, and then I went and bought a theme and customized it. Did you know that you can get a refund on a domain, but not on a theme? You have that theme for life! I had no intention of doing this. It’s not like I bought a sports car or anything, right?
A lot of good came from the delay, however. Everything just kind of unfolded organically.
The first thing that happened was that I came across photographer, Brooke DiDonato. She’s a brilliant artist, living in New York City. When I saw her photos on Flickr, I knew I had discovered someone special. Her work is sensual, and sometimes strange and disturbing, which I love. I just stumbled across the photo in the header above, entitled, “Unrequited Love,” and had to have to it. I had my tag in my head before I saw her photo. Luckily, Brooke graciously has let me use this photo for my blog. Thank you so much, Brooke! Check out Brooke on Facebook. Should you like her page, she will delight you with intriguing photos in her updates. You won’t be disappointed.
The next thing that happened was that I actually had a phone conversation with fellow blogger, Anka from The Daily Grind. This would be the first time that I actually heard the voice of another blogger. Let me tell you, she is just as sweet as she is on her blog. Thanks for your help again, Anka.
Finally, my husband and I were discussing my blog on the trip and he said to me, “Why must The Bumble Files be gone forever?” Why, indeed. I decided I will incorporate The Bumble Files in my blog somehow. So, see, it’s not goodbye after all.
As for my new blog, Amy Reese Writes, I may have just as easily been amyreese.com, except that it was not available. It belongs to yet another Amy Reese, who was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Are you off to Google her already? Wait a minute. Yeah, she’s hot and pretty. I would have to compete with a cheerleader, wouldn’t I? I believe she was a cheerleader over five years ago, but apparently still has many fans. I was a cheerleader once when I could do back flips, and when middle school was called junior high. I was, too.
Please consider my new space as a Work in Progress; I’m just moving in and getting a feel for the place. There are still boxes in the corner, but make yourself at home.
Welcome all! Cheers!

Oh good news, Ralph! Thanks for checking that for me. I’m surprised how easy it was, really. Mostly, I was just worried, and all for no reason.
Women…well, I guess they turn into cougars! I don’t know. I’d like to spend more time at the spa. Ha ha, wouldn’t that be nice. That would work for me. Thank you, Ralph. I needed that. Hugs!

Blue Nun is a terrible cheap German wine which was big in the 70s (for some unfathomable reason) and Twiglets are, well, hard to describe… Like sticks covered in Marmite but edible. I have no idea what they’re actually made of 😀

This is a good look on you, Amy. It’s Pier1-ish, almost. I feel like I just walked into someone’s newly furnished home with my shoes on and I’m sitting on an imported leather sofa with my feet up, drinking a sparkling water that I took from your fridge without asking, and then I asked you to change the channel.
No need to tell me to make myself at home. I know the drill.

Oh, Amy, I’m so glad you sent me a Facebook message! Your blog was apparently one of those blogs WordPress had unfollowed for me. I think you’re the only cheerleader I’ve ever liked. 😀 Nice new blog, and puttin’ your name and face and it and all o’ that! Very brave. Cool theme you have forever there! What all made you change your mind about the Bumble Files and this new direction? You can email me if you want to talk about midlife crises. I’ve had a couple of those I think! Anyway, good luck, and of course we’ll still follow. I love anything that keeps me from productive work.

Amy, Mazel! This is wonderful! I was waiting to see what you would do, and then when your post came, I was in the middle of a crazy week and couldn’t sit and enjoy it. Finally… the site looks great, and really suits you! Brooke’s work is really amazing; thanks for sharing that! The header is just SO cool; it’s the first thing I noticed. Again, it all really reflects better who you are, in my mind. As for Bumble Files, I’ve seen blogs where they have “sections” on their site, and you can just open various things and enjoy photos, thematic writing (like all posts about kids, food, etc). I bet you could do that here and add all the BF stories there. I’m glad I didn’t “lose” you. 😉

I’m so glad you had a chance to stop by. Thank you so much! I really like Brooke’s work, and I’m glad you like it. You should check her stuff out. As for the change, I hope it’s the right one. I felt like I wasn’t moving forward anymore. It’s probably psychological, but anyway, I think that counts for a lot. What you describe is exactly what I would like to do with the Bumble Files. It will be a segment of some sort. Sometimes it takes letting go of something to realize what you have. I think that will work! Thanks for being here!! 🙂
