The Bumble Files is now Amy Reese Writes – Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog, Amy Reese Writes! Surprise, surprise! Please join me in celebrating my new beginning.

I am back from the abyss. Are you still with me? I had not intended to be gone so long. I had these four issues surface: 1) I got sick, 2) My computer got sick (still is), 3) I went out-of-town …and then, and then…4) I had a mid-life crisis.

I know!

I was struggling with my identity and paralyzed by fear, thinking that once  I hit the publish button, you would all disappear. I had to remind myself that this is just a blog, and then I went and bought a theme and customized it. Did you know that you can get a refund on a domain, but not on a theme? You have that theme for life! I had no intention of doing this. It’s not like I bought a sports car or anything, right?

A lot of good came from the delay, however. Everything just kind of unfolded organically.

The first thing that happened was that I came across photographer, Brooke DiDonato. She’s a brilliant artist, living in New York City. When I saw her photos on Flickr, I knew I had discovered someone special. Her work is sensual, and sometimes strange and disturbing, which I love. I just stumbled across the photo in the header above, entitled, “Unrequited Love,” and had to have to it. I had my tag in my head before I saw her photo. Luckily, Brooke graciously has let me use this photo for my blog. Thank you so much, Brooke! Check out Brooke on Facebook. Should you like her page, she will delight you with intriguing photos in her updates. You won’t be disappointed.

The next thing that happened was that I actually had a phone conversation with fellow blogger, Anka from The Daily Grind. This would be the first time that I actually heard the voice of another blogger. Let me tell you, she is just as sweet as she is on her blog. Thanks for your help again, Anka.

Finally, my husband and I were discussing my blog on the trip and he said to me, “Why must The Bumble Files be gone forever?” Why, indeed. I decided I will incorporate The Bumble Files in my blog somehow. So, see, it’s not goodbye after all.

As for my new blog, Amy Reese Writes, I may have just as easily been amyreese.com, except that it was not available. It belongs to yet another Amy Reese, who was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Are you off to Google her already? Wait a minute. Yeah, she’s hot and pretty. I would have to compete with a cheerleader, wouldn’t I?  I believe she was a cheerleader over five years ago, but apparently still has many fans. I was a cheerleader once when I could do back flips, and when middle school was called junior high. I was, too.

Please consider my new space as a Work in Progress; I’m just moving in and getting a feel for the place.  There are still boxes in the corner, but make yourself at home.

Welcome all! Cheers!

  1. Hi Amy 😀 Is this the cheerleader site ? 😉 hehe. Seriously, welcome back. I am still following your blog and your mid-life crisis. Have you bought a Harley then ? Ralph xox 😀

    1. Ha ha, Ralph. I can always count on you for a good joke. Thank you! Thanks for following me in good times and bad. No, I do not have a Harley….hmm. Is that my next move? Love, Amy xox 🙂

      1. I have just checked Blogs I Follow / Edit and WP has automatically changed the blog name to your new one. That’s good news.

I know that men buy Harleys when they have a mid-life crisis, but women, I haven’t a clue !! Possibly shoe shopping or going New Age ? You should know my friend. Or maybe you just need a hug. Big hug. xox 😀

      2. Oh good news, Ralph! Thanks for checking that for me. I’m surprised how easy it was, really. Mostly, I was just worried, and all for no reason.

Women…well, I guess they turn into cougars! I don’t know. I’d like to spend more time at the spa. Ha ha, wouldn’t that be nice. That would work for me. Thank you, Ralph. I needed that. Hugs!

      3. Yes. Probably spas are the right thing for you Amy. Is that true “Women…well, I guess they turn into cougars!” ? I’ve not had any banging at my blog door 😉 Have another hug. xox 😀

  2. WOW! WOW! WOW! Where do I start? Your header, your new author photo, the theme … they all look so phenomenal!! I can’t wait to come back and ‘dig’ around. I’m getting ready to spend the next five hours with 21 preschoolers. Yay me! Hope I’m still standing . . .

    1. Oh, thanks Anka! I’m so happy you feel this way. You just don’t know until you put it out there, so thank you, thank you!! Yay, I did it. Thanks, again. Yes, dig around to your heart’s desire. Good luck with the preschoolers. I hope you have your coffee! I’m sure you do!

  3. Amy, I love everything about your new look. It isn’t cluttered, it’s inviting, and I appreciate so much that you have a font dark enough and large enough for easy reading. Your header and photo are great!

    1. Maddie, thank you. I strive for many of the things you mentioned here in your comments, so I’m really happy to hear it. I like big, dark fonts, too! I don’t know why that’s so hard to find. Of course, I had to customize to get it, but it’s worth it to me. Glad you like the header and photo. Thank you!

  4. Nice to have you back. Sure the other Amy may have her talents but can she write or make me laugh on a daily basis. No way! Also, mid-life crisis, not only don’t I believe it but I am sure it is not yet even possible for a 20 something 🙂

  5. Oh crap. I thought this was “Reese Witherspoon Writes”… I loved her in, err, whatever her last movie was (which was probably some click-flick I was forced to watch until I fell asleep 15 minutes into it.)

    1. Ah, I know I was wondering if I could make it there for a few days, and then with all the little difficulties, no just challenges. I came out the other side. Yay! Thanks for being here to support me, Shalagh, and being such a good friend.
      Love,
      Amy

  6. Woohoo! I’m making myself at home here, but I think I’m going to get some goodies first. What should I get? Cupcakes? Cookies? You name it and I’ll hop to the store!

In all seriousness, I wish you lots of fun and luck. It’s looking lovely and I can’t wait to see how you will decorate it with your words 🙂 xoxo!!

    1. I recall your move, Marina. How are things? Have you settled in? Moving of any kind, although this would be my first virtual move, is a royal pain. It’s up there with a cleaning at the dentist x10!! Thanks for coming by new space, Marina!

      1. ‘royal pain’ indeed! Still unpacking – like the nightmare never ends!!!! At least we are gradually recovering [physically – NOT mentally though!]
I wish you all the best for your new virtual home, Amy. May it always be filled with joy! 🙂

      2. Moving…it’s the worst!!! I think I’d rather have a root canal. Well, take you time. Just tackle it a little at a time. So long as you’re making progress, you’re ok! It can take time to transition. Just don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I appreciate that, Marina. Thanks!! 🙂

    1. Still dealing with 1) and 2)! But for the most part, mentally I feel a lot better. It’s always a challenge to find the time to write. I understand completely! Thanks for checking out my new space, Courtney! See you at FF this week? It looks like a hard one. I have no idea!

    1. Yay, you made it over here! Thank you soooo much!!! I’m glad you like it. I think the photo is destiny. And, of course, I’ve always liked the beach!!

I need to check all my settings…I’m not getting anyone’s posts. I still feel in a kind of limbo. It does feel good to be back regardless. Look what I missed? Such great news about your story. That’s so awesome!

Thanks for the well wishes on the story, I was totally blown away.

      2. I’ll try, Trent. Does anyone ever feel caught on the blogs? I don’t think I ever really do. I will just do my best.

That’s really cool news for you and your story!! You’re on your way.

    1. Thanks so much! You’re so on top of things. I appreciate that. It does feel like a new start. Thanks for coming to the party! How’s the return to blogging going for you. I need to do come catching up since I’ve been gone a week. In blogging terms, that’s like a month, right?

      1. I was off for nearly six months. If your conversion is right, then my absence must equate to roughly the duration of the Pleistocene era. The return has been great though. Thrilled to be back.

      2. It probably feels that way, huh?! Whenever I take a few days off, it feels like I’ve missed so much. I just have to move forward. It’s great to see you back. Hey, I like your new header by the way. It’s very classy!

      3. Yep – I started with the goal of a site overhaul in honour of my “renewal,” but all I got around to was monkeying with the header. I’m actually reinspired though after seeing what you’ve done around here. Very well done.

  8. Amy,
congratulations on the new look and I’m glad that you were able to keep all the old content archived and didn’t have to start over at square one again. So, in some ways, this is the evolution of the Bumble Files. I look forward to reading more of what Amy Reese Writes. 🙂

    1. David,
Thank you. Starting over would be extremely painful…also, why when I am proud of everything I’ve created here. That’s a good way to put it, an evolution of the Bumble Files. It’s just a move down the street, and I still need to sift through things. It does feel like a new beginning and that has me re-energized! So, yay!! Thanks for being here. 🙂

  9. This is a good look on you, Amy. It’s Pier1-ish, almost. I feel like I just walked into someone’s newly furnished home with my shoes on and I’m sitting on an imported leather sofa with my feet up, drinking a sparkling water that I took from your fridge without asking, and then I asked you to change the channel.

No need to tell me to make myself at home. I know the drill.

    Looks great!

    1. Ha ha, Adam! Is it not dark enough for you?! Pier-1ish. That’s hilarious. That’s nice to know since I don’t have any of that kind of stuff in my house. Here’s the remote, hon. You can have a glass of milk. But, since you’re a guest, I would offer you a beer and get some special since you came over to visit. You’re welcome anytime. Thanks!

  10. Oh, Amy, I’m so glad you sent me a Facebook message! Your blog was apparently one of those blogs WordPress had unfollowed for me. I put up a post about it a couple weeks ago, thinking I would recapture everyone with that, but I guess I didn’t recapture yours. So glad to be following again. The new site looks great!!

    1. Me too, Carrie! I missed you. Just leave it to WordPress to complicate matters. Did I read that post? I hope I didn’t lose people. So far, it’s been smooth. Thank you! I’m glad you like it.

  11. I think you’re the only cheerleader I’ve ever liked. 😀 Nice new blog, and puttin’ your name and face and it and all o’ that! Very brave. Cool theme you have forever there! What all made you change your mind about the Bumble Files and this new direction? You can email me if you want to talk about midlife crises. I’ve had a couple of those I think! Anyway, good luck, and of course we’ll still follow. I love anything that keeps me from productive work.

  12. Amy, Mazel! This is wonderful! I was waiting to see what you would do, and then when your post came, I was in the middle of a crazy week and couldn’t sit and enjoy it. Finally… the site looks great, and really suits you! Brooke’s work is really amazing; thanks for sharing that! The header is just SO cool; it’s the first thing I noticed. Again, it all really reflects better who you are, in my mind. As for Bumble Files, I’ve seen blogs where they have “sections” on their site, and you can just open various things and enjoy photos, thematic writing (like all posts about kids, food, etc). I bet you could do that here and add all the BF stories there. I’m glad I didn’t “lose” you. 😉

    1. I’m so glad you had a chance to stop by. Thank you so much! I really like Brooke’s work, and I’m glad you like it. You should check her stuff out. As for the change, I hope it’s the right one. I felt like I wasn’t moving forward anymore. It’s probably psychological, but anyway, I think that counts for a lot. What you describe is exactly what I would like to do with the Bumble Files. It will be a segment of some sort. Sometimes it takes letting go of something to realize what you have. I think that will work! Thanks for being here!! 🙂

  13. I am now picturing you as a sexy cheerleader and no I am not being naughty as all cheerleaders are beautiful creatures, not that I know any, apart from you that is 🙂 By the way I like how your website looks, even Gladstone-Forbes-Smith likes it and he is very picky at what sites I follow. How do you mean who is he?

Just another zombie craving the blood and gore, nothing for you to worry about 🙂 But, yes the eccentricity is catching so beware 🙂 lol Have a really wicked and exciting day and equally, a lovely evening to follow. I will crack open a crate of the red just in case you fancy some 🙂 Wine I mean 😉

It’s a good job that you know my sense of humour Amy
or I could get into trouble… Have fun now, I always do 🙂

I feel like a hamburger now. I’m iron deficient since I’ve read this. 🙂 You have fun, too, but not too much! Have a lovely day and a wicked, wicked evening. Baaa hahaa.
