I am writing a post about nothing in particular, just because. . .
Just because I never do, and it’s my turn.
And just because, I want to tell you that my heart is in it, but my spirit is weak.
In my research about “hacking,” I discovered that, in fact, I have been hacked. Every time I turn on computer, I have a new virus. At this point, I’m afraid to touch my computer, much less turn it on. When I use a computer now, I do so, ahem, at an undisclosed location. That’s where I am now.
But just because I am weakened by technology, does mean that I can’t enjoy your posts. I’ve been able to accomplish this by using other devices, i.e., smart phone and the trusty iPad, when it is available. I’ve learned that I detest things that are small…small screens, small typeface, small keys….Just because, well they’re annoying.
I’ve tried to rely on Siri, to talk to her to see if she can type my comments. The other day, I made this shopping list on my phone:
I said:
Salami
Rolls
Peanut butter
She typed:
Mommy
Rules
You Know Better
What is this? Some kind of code, Siri? Seems favorable enough, she kinda sorta seems to be on my side. But I don’t trust her, and besides, she got it all wrong. I discovered I miss typing, and just get further annoyed. I am annoyed that I am annoyed by a talking gadget.
It’s all fair, since I am annoying complete strangers, just because the transmission on my car is obviously dying and I get the look of death from people as they pass me, on the right. I give them the stare of “do or die trying.” It’s a win-win.
Just because we are all annoyed, well, this does not preclude me from enjoying these moments:
The beautiful hydrangeas.

The conclusion that kitty can’t tell the difference between the ground and the roof…until it’s too late.

A cool beverage. I’m not one for product placement, but the Green Matcha Tea Freedo with Raspberry flavoring with Whipped Cream from Peets Coffee & Tea is quite refreshing. Don’t let the green color scare you.

And, of course, the pool deck. I will be spending lots of time here, watching my son’s water polo.

Just because. . .it’s summer! Stay cool!
Happy Summer to you! 😎
I’m probably the only person who will ask this but how did you get beautiful blue and pink hydrangeas together as I understood it depended on the soil type. Do you have two plants in pots close together or are you a secret botanist in your spare time 🙂
LikeLike
I don’t know!! I think they should be ONE color, but this has never happened. It seems to be one plant, Stephen. It’s a mystery…something about the acid in the soil perhaps? 🙂
LikeLike
Yes maybe. Lets hope you don’t have alkaline solid and acid rain 🙂 Anyway, nice article as always and a nice change of pace for your blog. I too find it difficult just to write these sort of pieces on my blog but they are nice to read from people you know and like just for a change of pace.

Sorry you’re having computer woes. I don’t like staring at small screens either. My vision isn’t what it used to be (not that it was ever great), and I’m pretty sure staring at my tiny phone screen is just speeding up its demise. But can’t live with them, can’t live without them…
Happy weekend!

Thanks, Carrie. I’ve actually been dealing with this problem for some time. It’s hard to get anything done! I depend on my computer for so many things. I feel like I just need to tell people. I’m really doing the best I can with this! Argh!!!
Have a great weekend yourself.

My sister is legally blind and deaf so she has a minor speech impediment and depends on Siri to text. Her texts are nearly as poetic and impenetrable as your grocery list! You could do a whole post Siri-style and I would devour it. Seriously. (And ugh to computer woes. Ugh.)
LikeLike
Oh wow, she has to depend on Siri! I swear I have full conversations with her, or some semblance of a conversation. I swear she’s communicating with me. I have kept a few notes about the things she has said, Jen. Maybe I will do a post. I’ve thought about it actually. Now, that I know I have a fan, wonderful, I must do this! Computers are so necessary. It’s hard to live without them. Thanks.

Like life. I love that, Brenda. Thank you. I could ramble all my posts and then my blogging would be carefree. And then I have posts I really want to write and I can’t seem to get to them because they require probably more time and mental energy. We’ll see. maybe I’ll be carefree for a while.

Happy summer! I hope Lucky found the way down to the ground. What makes Matcha Green tea different from other green teas? I saw it on Amazon once and was tempted to try it, but didn’t. It looks like you enjoyed yours. 🙂

Thanks, Patti! Lucky always finds his way to the ground, and he always looks so heartbroken and sad on the roof, like he has no idea how he got there. It always makes me laugh! I don’t know what the deal is with Matcha, but it sounds exotic. Matcha! My review of it would be that is smooth. You should try it. 🙂

Well, I don’t trust anything made by Apple. Siri, though, she’s a hater.

I can’t use small screens to do anything like posting on my blog. It’s just too fiddly! Sounds like your computer’s anti-virus is malfunctioning. Have you tried running a full hard disk scan to see what it finds?

Thanks, Alistair. It’s fun to just let loose sometimes. Much easier to write than FF. 🙂
The little screens are hard on my eyes, too. It feels so incredibly inefficient. I haven’t tried anything. I’m too overwhelmed and I am afraid my computer will explode or something! I’ll see about a hard disk scan. Thanks for the suggestion.

Siri sounds like she playing games with you. I love the way Peanut butter was replaced with You Know Better LOL 😀

Your Siri story reminded my of one of the funniest episodes of “Big Bang Theory” when they feature Siri. When the obnoxious guy with the speech impediment tries to use it, it is hysterical.
Your posts about nothing are better than most people’s about something.

Oh my! That would be a funny episode! I don’t watch that one on a regular basis, because cable I don’t have. But I will soon. I’ll have to look that one up. That sounds hysterical. Siri often makes me feel that I have a speech impediment. Thanks so much, Michelle. They are fun to write, too! 🙂

I hope you overcome your computer headaches soon, Amy. I was very amused by Siri completely misinterpreting your message. Maybe it’s her way of being a comedian. If so, it would behoove her to stick to her day job.

I’m going to try a few of the suggestions I got from this post and see what comes up! Who knows. Maybe it’s a simple fix. Siri is such a comedian, yes! And, not so funny. I think it’s funny when I think I’ve pissed her off. I can hear her voice turn a little mad, or it could be me, internalizing anger. Oh no, Siri has me psychoanalyze myself. 🙂

I did that!! Thanks so much. I had another blogger recommend this as well. It found 849 malicious objects on my computer. Yikes!! I think it’s running as good as new. Good things happen when I ask for advice from my blogging friends. How often should I run this? Do I need to get the premium upgrade? Thanks for your help, Guap.

Glad it worked!
You should be able to schedule it to run every so often. Once a month should be good, unless you’re going to sketchy sites, then maybe every week or two.
I’ve actually never used the premium version, but generally have found the free one to be sufficient.
Also make sure your antivirus software is current.
