Bam Bam Lives
I’m live from Allbuck County at the Friendly Bear’s Tavern where locals are butting heads tonight, literally, over their missing stuffed ram, affectionately known as “Bam Bam.”
You may recall Bam Bam made quite a stir as the beloved Bighorn Sheep who rammed his horns into moving vehicles, inflicting havoc in his wake. Those who knew him remember his antics only as playful.
“Whoever has Bam Bam is gonna pay in blood,” said a local man (tears streaming).
**************************
Sherman displayed Bam Bam during Christmas when he could disguise him with a Santa hat.
“Hey, isn’t that…?”
“No, definitely not.”

Thanks to the talented Rochelle Wisoff Fields for hosting the Friday Fictioneers and to Adam Ickes for the photo. I love this one. My first idea didn’t pan out. I came across the video (see below) and was immediately inspired.

I got a few laughs out of this one. Clever use of words and humour. I used to dress my wicker giraffe in Santa hat and beard at xmas.

Oh, good! I glad I could make you laugh. Now your giraffe would be something to see. I bet the hat plus the beard must make him almost unrecognizable. Ha ha!

Of course, Bam Bam will always take me back to the Flinestones, except for this little guy. Fierce is right and he has quite the personality it seems. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Bam Bam was a special dude indeed! I had a razorback pig charge my car and do a fair bit of damage a few years back (he survived – the car didn’t). He wasn’t nearly as cute as Bam Bam 😀
LikeLike
Wow, about the pig! Talk about feisty! Bam Bam was certainly charged up and ready to do damage, but not intentionally of course. He is cute. It would be hard to be mad at him. 🙂

His name suited him perfectly! lol….

I know. What with all the bamming and ramming that he does. I guess he could be named Ram Bam or Bam Ram, but nah, it’s not the same!

Nice one, the case of the missing Bam Bam. Looks like Sherman has an interesting story of his own.

Thanks! Yes, I have a feeling that things are not all together right with Sherman. Thanks so much for reading.

Great story; the end made me smile. I think it’s all fun and games until it’s my car that gets whacked. Interesting that it’s based off a true story as well.

Thank you, David. Can you imagine if Bam Bam were to come at you or your car! I would be really scared, but then look at the expression on his face? He’s so cute about it! I can see him getting his way whenever he feels like it.

Quite a tribute to quite a varmint, Amy. It’s comforting to know that Bam Bam bought his rainbow via natural causes, probably a head injury.

A head injury, yeah, that would my guess. Poor thing. Oh wait, it’s all his fault!

Clever use of the reporting style, Amy. It works very well. Laughed at Sherman disguising Bam Bam with a Santa hat. Loved the video but winced at the smashing headlights. What a character!

Thanks, Karen. I’m glad the reporting style worked. It just kind of came to me, and it happens to be what I did last week as well. Hmm. I’ve been reading a lot of news, maybe it’s rubbing off. I have a feeling the Santa hat won’t work forever!

Sounds like the Santa hat isn’t the best disguise, someone’s going to twig for sure sooner or later.
This puts me in mind of college pranks, mascot-stealing and whatnot. I wonder if Sherman’s from a rival bar?
LikeLike
I think you’re on to something. Maybe bunny ears would be a better disguise? Ooh, I like this motive of the rival bar. I would just settle for Sherman being a devoted Bam Bam fan! I like your idea much better!

I’m surprised Bam Bam lasted as long as he did with all the damage. Of course once he was mounted the stories would be embellished and would provide countless hours of entertainment. No wonder they want him back.

He’s like a hero to them for crushing and damaging their cars. Silly ram. I’m kind of surprised with the footage, as if we would just let this ram damage his car, but how often does a ram like this come along? He’s so daring. He reminds me of the moose I used to see wandering through town in Estes Park in Colorado. The moose was right at home wandering through the streets. People just had to swerve a lot.

Too funny! I saw the video and … yeah, people are crazy. Thanks for sharing that with us! I’m sure he would look great in a santa hat too, with little holes for the horns. Aww. 🙂

Thanks, Anne. You’re welcome. That video was too good not to share 🙂 I can just see him with a Santa hat. Red would suit him. And the holes for the horns, of course! Ha ha.

I bet that would be the lead story in smalltownville. Their beloved ram is a kid with fur.
That video is something else. Seems Bam Bam wasn’t a fan of tourists.

I could see this news item going viral on the Internet. Why not? You can perhaps see why the video inspired me to write a story. That sheep can’t get enough. I wonder how he died. I hope it wasn’t out of revenge.

According to his obituary (yes, he has an obit, and even a FB page) he died of old age. He was the last Big Horn in the park, too. They were taking donations to mount him for a display, so your news story could one day turn into a work of non-fiction.

Oh, I didn’t read his obit. Wow, my story isn’t too far from the truth. Thanks for the info! I’m glad he died of old age.

From what I read, all that guy had to do was reach his hand out and give Bam Bam a little scratch behind the ear and he would have saved himself a headlight.

I’ve been checking out his Facebook page. They even have a fun run after him and a magazine. He actually is really cute. If you think about it, his ramming things is just his natural instinct.

I can’t fault him for ramming cars and whatnot. Like you said, it’s his instinct. He was just showing everyone who was boss around there. And it makes for some funny video. 🙂

And, there’s also a news report and a plan to do a full body mount of him in the visitor’s center. How about that?

I saw that! I just hope when it’s finished, he stays where he’s put and no one dares steal him (and dress him in Santa stuff).

That would be horrible! Look how horrible my story is now!

Oh no! No, it’s not. If it does happen, they can get the story out there faster because you’ve already written it. It’s pre-copy copy.

Ha ha! His destiny, perhaps. Oh, I hope not!

I think it would be pretty hard to steal a full body mount. More so that a trophy head. At least I hope.

Dear Amy,
I have a life size, rubber black cat that I nabbed from our Halloween aisle a few years back. I named him Morpheus. Every Christmas I dress him in a Santa hat and angel wings.
Love your approach to the prompt. It made me smile.

Amy, There’s nothing much left to say. That was really funny. He became a real pet. I also liked your reporter voice. It works well for you as it was great in the weather report of the other story also. I enjoyed the film. I don’t know that I’d let a ram damage my car just to film it. Well written. 🙂 —Susan

Bam Bam was quite a sensation. He doesn’t really need my story, it appears. I’m glad the reporting came off well. It seems to be my thing lately. 🙂 I doubt that I would let a ram damage my car either. That’s so crazy! Thanks so much, Susan.
