This week’s photo challenge is Partners.
Whether two of a kind or ten, give us subjects that are in sync with one another — show us partnerships.
I’d like to share some photos of some very hungry and friendly goats. They are urban partners. The partnership is pretty simple: we have weeds and they’ll eat them.
More than 150 goats participated in this weed abatement program, helping to reduce fire hazards and to help the soil with their low nitrogen manure. Thanks, goats. Good job!
Vegetation management is traditionally handled by a tractor. Our feasting partners provide an environment-friendly alternative and they are more than willing to help us out. A few weeds, no problem. Heck, they’ll eat anything.
So, don’t get too close. They might eat your shoes! Not to mention the electric fence.

You deserve it. Nice work, goats!

What a creative take on the challenge, Amy! I find the weed-eating goat solution is also so very creative. I once had a client whose business was trucking her goat herds around the west for weed removal. She was very interesting, and I guess it’s a pretty lucrative business as well as eco-friendly!

Thanks so much, Cathy! The goats just appeared and I thought of this prompt. It’s so weird to see them intermixed in the city setting. I bet it is a lucrative business. There’s another little field in a nearby town full of goats, too. It’s seems like a win-win for everyone.

This is so cool! I love the pictures – especially the one at the top. I would have taken lots of shots of them as well – it’s so awesome to see animals serving this purpose. I’ve petted goats at petting zoos and they were always so friendly and playful and had such expressive, large eyes. Great use of the prompt, Amy. 🙂

Goats always look like they have a smile on their face. I took lots of pictures of them and many times they were staring straight at me. I think they’re very social animals and great helpers, too! Thanks so much. 🙂

Wow, these are great pictures – I did not think about how goats could clear a field like that! As you said, “Good job goats!”
