Welcome to Friday Fictioneers, a group of writers who attempt to write a 100-word story based on a photo prompt. This week’s photo is brought to us by Dale Rogerson, who I understand has a birthday today. So, Happy Birthday, Dale! Cheers! And thanks for the pizza.:)
My story went a bit over. I apologize. I did my best to cut.

Pizza Pie
“He owns a deli.” Chuck surveyed the baseball field of short-legged participants.
“Remember the party with the limos,” Janice persisted.
“Giuseppe is just a neighbor with a big family.”
“That’s what I’m saying.”
The hot dog line was long. They chose the empty pizza booth instead.
“Hi, Giuseppe. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“My nephew’s on a team. You guys want pizza?” Giuseppe gestured toward a tower of boxes. “Half price. You never had a pizza pie like this.”
Janice didn’t think they had a choice. No matter. Whenever hunger consumed them, Chuck and Janice dreamed of Giuseppe’s cold pizza pie. Simply the best.

Such an unusual picture to craft a story to! Love what you did with it, Amy. Hope you and yours are doing well!

Hi, Carrie. True! It is a bit unusual, but I bet everyone has a pizza story. Thanks. Things are good and busy. How about you? Great to see you here.

When someone has a big family like Giuseppe, I’m sure you do feel compelled to buy pizza from him 😉 And when they say “it’s to die for”, you want it to mean that the pizza tastes good and not something else….

Exactly. I know I would feel compelled. “To die for.” Ha. Now that would have been a good line. I’ll have to revise. 🙂 Thanks, Trent.

Dear Amy,
When someone supplies most of the players you eat his pizza. Pass the red pepper and Parmesan. Good one.

I liked the quietly-stated menace in this. Well done, Amy

The line of limos has me thinking it’s best not to cross Giuseppe. And cold pizza is better than no pizza. Fun and unsettling at the same time. Well done.

Thanks, Sarah Ann. If I had more space I would have added how his neighbor could maybe, uh, just give them the pizza! No, not Giuseppe. Half-price and cold. But I’ve a lot of cold pizza that tasted pretty good to me. 🙂

Nice take. Compelled to buy pizza but half price, I’d be compelled every time. 🙂

Thanks, Michael. When we get pizza it’s on Monday nights…half-price pizza night! It’s hard to beat.

Hot dogs are nice but pizza is better, and half-price pizza – a no-brainer 🙂

True. Although there’s something kind of balanced about baseball and a hot dog. But pizza is pizza, even cold. Thanks, Ali.

I agree with Neil. The quietly stated menace carries this story. And I love that he SELLS cold pizza!

Ha. Right, the nerve. But I guess he gets away with it! Love your comment. Thanks, Alicia.

What’s not to like? It was an offer they couldn’t refuse…

For some reason I wouldn’t take the pizza from an empty booth – even at half price, Amy! Nicely done 🙂

Good point, Dianne. A few people is one thing, but empty….You might be taking your chances there. Thanks!

enjoyed reading your story. i thought i spotted a typo, though. should “pizza pie” be “pizza pile” instead? just kidding. 🙂

Ha ha. Yeah, that works! Thanks, Plaridel. Glad you enjoyed it.

We actually have a Giuseppe in town. He rarely makes pizza, but his restaurant is the best! Like where you took this Amy… several nuances, that made it come to life.

Thanks so much, Dawn. I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. Glad you have a Giuseppe that is the best in your town!

Pizza for breakfast, pizza for lunch….I had a lot of pizza in college. I thought I might never eat it again, but I do! Thanks, Dawn. I hope you had a chance to have a slice.

Pizza! I think you’re right, everyone does have a pizza story. Our favourite would have been a place called “Da Pizza Joint”, and I bet you there was a Giuseppe involved with it somewhere. 😉

Michelle, it sounds like Giuseppe would have his hand in that place big time! What a great name. I’m sure stuff happens at Da Pizza Joint, am I right?

Nice story. It took me a minute to segway short-legged participants into kids, but I liked the phrase once done. Well done.
